Elixir on Mute is an electrifying sonic assault led by the young guitar virtuoso Jordan Ferreira, and is rounded out by a cadre of players whose contributions round out the rotating EOM lineup. EOM Players include Jon Reshard (bass), Dana Hawkins (drums), Thomas Pridgen (drums/ex The Mars Volta), Steve Jenkins (bass), Kilian Duarte (bass) and Padget Nanton (drums). Band leader Ferreira captains the trio and is an ambitious young musician who single-handedly formed EOM in 2010. Jordan’s cinematic approach to music, sheer musical acumen, and tireless work ethic results in a complex yet refined project. The recordings blossom with the help of a few amazing musicians, producing hard-hitting yet complex tracks that will entice intelligent listeners. This is prog-rock at its best – skill paired with intentionality, pace paired with tact and power. Regardless of the lineup, this formidable trio plays with tremendous balance, despite the outgoing and frenetic characteristics of the music Jordan has created. The record was written entirely by Jordan Ferreirra, a Massachussetts native who’s experience in the music industry and passion for film has inspired a visceral relationship to themes and sound. His ability to write and record such a dense group of tracks suggests big things for the young aspiring band-leader, especially when solidified by a rhythm section as talented as the ones he employs.
The band formed in 2010 after a chance meeting between Jordan and Thomas Pridgen in California, after which Jordan instinctively knew that he needed to record something with the bombastic drummer from Oakland. Jordan then linked up with Steve Jenkins, his friend from Berklee College Of Music, and the Elixir On Mute recording sessions for the debut album occurred shortly thereafter.
